"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

In Memory of...
An especially difficult loss has devastated all of us at CAC.  Our beloved Reilly, who had graced us with his love and beautiful spirit for the past 11 years, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 5/31/12 at the tender age of 14 leaving us all empty and raw.  Reilly was a very special soul. He spoke to us with his eyes - more clearly than I could ever explain. One would have had to experience it to understand the depths of this amazing canine. Even after surviving liver cancer, a spleenectomy and battling the effects of debilitating arthritis, he would still channel his inner puppy and show off for his special friends on his walks. Some days he would saunter around the yard, roll in the grass and beckon a good belly rub, but without fail, every so often, he would surprise us all with trotting off down the street, showing us all he still had it in him, reminding us of his unwaivering will to live life to the fullest and hold his head high - laughing in the face of all who said he was past his prime.  No - not Reilly - his spirit shone bright until his very last moments when he told us with his eyes that it was time to rest. His devoted mama Karin is beyond consolation at the loss of her dear best friend and companion, and we are all grieving along with her at the loss of our beloved Reilly.  Karin rescued Reilly and gave him the most incredible life and in turn, he gave her the most precious gift of unconditional love and friendship.  Theirs was a true and impermiable bond that transcends this world.  It has taken me almost 2 weeks to write Reilly's memorial, and I do so now through tears, still mourning this great loss and struggling to find the words to express just how special he was.  In our work, we meet many dogs and grow to love them all so very much. But once in a lifetime, a rare spirit comes along and steals our hearts away beyond expectation. Reilly was one of those souls - and he has taken a huge piece of each of us with him.  Reilly was a gentleman and a friend, more human than most humans I know, and his passing has left us all beyond heartbroken. Reilly was unique in every way. A comedian and a genius, a confidant and a partner -  but above all, Reilly was family to all of us, and to say that he will be missed, only begins to scratch the surface.  May you soar on the wings of Angels old friend. Your absence has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.  Your friendship was a once in a lifetime gift and we will cherish your memory every day.  Rest easy my dear Reilly Muffin...we will meet again  -- and we will roll in the grass together.

After blessing us all with his love and devotion for only 8 years...we must bid a tearful farewell to a loyal friend and member of our family.  Our hearts are bleeding for my cousin Linda and her family at the loss of their dear friend Gus. Gus was an amazing, gentle giant. who touched everyone he met. After a battle with painful tumors, Gus was sent to rest at home on 3/27 surrounded by his loving family.  A true testament to his breed and a loving friend to Linda, Mike and their 3 children, Gus will be dearly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.  Rest easy boy.

Madison smiling
Sadly we must bid farewell to yet another member of our canine family. Our precious Madison, whom we only knew for a short time, departed this world on 9/14/10.  She gave her loving family 13 years of joy, and a lifetime of wonderful memories that they will cherish always.  Our heartfelt condolences go out to the McGarvey family during this very difficult time. In the short time we knew Madison, she deeply affected us with her brilliant spirit and her sweet disposition. There was no evidence of the cancer that ultimately took her life, so we can hope that she did not experience much pain before she passed.  We know she is romping in the fields of Doggie Heaven now, youthful and healthy, and is at peace. It is only those whom she left behind that struggle with the sadness and devastation of her loss. Madison will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her and will remain in our hearts forever.

Buddy doing what he loved most - chasing squirrels -
It is with a bleeding heart that all of us at CAC bid farewell to yet another member of our canine family. Our wonderful friend Tandy, adopted Buddy at 9 years of age. Buddy suffered from several health issues, and Tandy's love and care truly gave him a new lease on life. Ultimately, an inoperable brain tumor caused Buddy's departure from this world at the tender age of 10.  Buddy was a gentle soul who touched all of us deeply.  There is little consolation for Tandy for the loss of her beloved Buddy, though we have some comfort in the thought that he is without pain or suffering and romping through the fields in Doggie Heaven and thanks to Tandy, Buddy's final year of life was filled with all the love and joy that he had been missing. Tandy is a hero and a beautiful soul who sent Buddy on his journey - having finally experienced the love he so deserved.  It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to Buddy and extend my deepest condolences to Tandy and all who were touched by Buddy's wonderful spirit. He will live on in our memories and our hearts and remain irreplaceable.

our dearly departed friends...

CAC wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to all of those who have mourned the loss of a dear pet. While we know that they are at peace now and without pain or suffering, we miss them terribly.

Remembering Murphy
Our beloved Murphy pictured with Kristin's sister Amy

God looked around His garden and found an empty space,
He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest,
God's garden must be beautiful He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering; He knew you were in pain.
He knew you might never get well upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered 'Peace be thine'
It broke Mom's heart to lose you but you never went alone
For part of her went with you the day God called you Home.
